The Los Angeles Lakers struggled to stay healthy during the 2022-23 season.

However, once the team actually managed to get healthy, they emerged as a legitimate threat in the Western Conference. Los Angeles made it to the conference finals before falling to the eventual champion Denver Nuggets.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith believes the Lakers offseason moves have them right back in contention for next season.

“I like what they’ve done here. They didn’t disrupt anything, it wasn’t a mega, mega deal or anything like that and didn’t do anything that wasn’t necessary. They were in the conference finals. You’re good enough if you’re the Los Angeles Lakers to get back there.”

While Stephen A. thinks the Lakers can get there, he admitted the team still needs some extra help to beat the likes of the Nuggets.

“You need an additional piece if you’re going to beat Denver – that is true,” he added. But you can beat anybody else in the Western Conference if you’re the Los Angeles Lakers.”

With LeBron James a trip to the NBA finals is never out of the question.
