Once again, Ja Morant has found himself in trouble.
The Memphis Grizzlies suspended the All-Star on Sunnday after an IG live video showed Morant holding a gun while in the passenger seat of a car.
Severe consequences could be on the way for Morant, especially since this is the second gun-related issue involving the point guard, leading to an eight-game suspension towards the end of the season.
While talking on ESPN’s First Take on Monday, Stephen A. Smith provided details on what he’s about hearing about the possible punishment.
And it sounds like it’s a much longer one.
“I’ve got people in the league texting me saying Ja Morant should be suspended for the year,” Smith said. “I’m not saying that. I think that is too harsh, but they’re people saying you’ve got to send a message to the entire league that this stuff will not be tolerated because it comprises success of the brand.”
Morant was suspended for multiple games for a gun incident this past season, though he went to a rehab facility and promised to do better moving forward.
