The Carrie author, 74, terrified the Internet after he shared his go-to recipe for cooking salmon with his Twitter followers this week.

“Dinner: Get a nice salmon filet at the supermarket, not too big,” he wrote. “Put some olive oil and lemon juice on it. Wrap it in damp paper towels. Nuke it in the microwave for 3 minutes or so. Eat it.”

If you are looking for something fancy, he added, “Maybe add a salad.”

The stench, some users remarked, would send hungry diners heading for the exit.

“The smell of microwaved fish is more horrifying than anything you have penned & I say this as an admirer who can barely watch a trailer or see a book jacket with your name on it without getting next level scared,” added NBC senior business correspondent Stephanie Ruhle.

Writer Ian Forte wondered if the recipe is what prompted Pennywise, the demonic clown from King’s celebrated novel It, to chow down on kids.

“Is this why Pennywise keeps eating children? Cuz you did this to him?” Forte wrote.

But not everyone was ready to throw out the Firestarter scribe’s cooking method, with one person declaring the “wet paper towel is the key.”

“It just steams the fish efficiently. You can do the same with corn on the cob with lovely results.”

King himself retweeted several endorsements, including one from a follower who wrote, “I can vouch for Stephen King’s salmon recipe for the microwave boys and girls … It’s delicious … I have been microwaving salmon for years with different spices and then placed over jasmine rice.”

The horror master added, “I have one thing to say to people slagging on my salmon recipe: DON’T KNOCK (IT) IF YOU HAVEN’T TRIED IT.”

Earlier this year, King raved about his love for keeping paper towels handy in the kitchen.

“As someone who spends a lot of time in the kitchen — cooking and washing — I can say this: What is more useful than the humble paper towel, aka kitchen roll?”
