Steve Davis ‘morphing Into Joe Pasquale’ As Fans Bemused – Snooker Freaks

Snooker fans have been left bemused by Steve Davis’ voice and compared the former world champion to comedian Joe Pasquale.

Davis is currently providing analysis as a pundit for coverage of this year’s World Snooker Championship, which got underway at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield on Saturday and will end in May. However, viewers and fans have been quick to pick up on a change to his voice during the opening three days of the tournament.

His high pitched tone has seen fans joke that Davis has morphed into Pasquale due to the similarities to the beloved comic’s trademark squeaky voice.

One fan spotted the similarity during the opening day of the tournament and joked: “Steve Davis seems to be morphing into Joe Pasquale.”

However, it is not a new comparison, with fans having made note of Davis’ changing voice since early 2020, when another fan tweeted: “Is it just me or is Steve Davis’ voice morphing into Joe Pasquale’s?”

Prior to becoming one of snooker’s most recognisable and beloved pundits, David was a dominant force in the sport during his playing days, winning six world titles during the 1980s.

The Nugget also one the Masters on three separate occasions and was twice ranked as world number one as a player, despite being seen by some fans as a boring player.

This year, Davis is again on media duties, having retired from professional snooker in 2016, with defending champion Mark Selby instead among the favourites for victory at the Crucible.

The number one seed advanced through the first round with a 10-7 win over Jamie Jones on Saturday, with his second round match scheduled for the end of this week.

Meanwhile, number two seed Ronnie O’Sullivan has already provided plenty of entertainment, as he left fans in hysterics in an interview after beating David Gilbert 10-5 in round one.
