GameSpot is proud to debut Spot On, a new weekly news show featuring managing editor Tamoor Hussain and senior producer Lucy James. We know that the internet is full of daily and weekly news shows that recap the goings on in the games industry, so we’re opting to dive deeper on a single issue, theme, or topic to present our perspective and encourage conversation.

For the first episode Lucy and Tamoor are tackling the dangers of chasing trends, specifically forcing games to be Destiny-like in their design and attempting to be a games as a service. Although this is a timely discussion because of the launch of Redfall, many games over the last few years have also chased the same trend, for better and for worse.

GameSpot has a number of new shows on YouTube for you to check out. If you haven’t already seen it, check out GameSpot’s History of Legend of Zelda video here. If video essays are more your speed, make sure to watch Kurt Locker, which is looking at the place remasters and remakes have in the industry. You can check out No HUD, Experts React, How It Saved, and more on our YouTube channel.
