Stormzy outs himself as a die-hard Swiftie as he fanboys over meeting Taylor Swift

Stormzy proved he was just like the rest of us as he outed himself as a major Swiftie while fanboying over the legend herself, Taylor Swift.

At Sunday night’s MTV EMAs, the 29-year-old rapper made it his mission to get a selfie with the American superstar, as he documented his journey to track her down backstage in clips shared to his Instagram account.

“Man’s trying to get a selfie with Taylor Swift! Man’s running around,” Stormzy explained to his followers while sipping on a drink. In the following video, he excitedly added the update: “Man’s gonna meet Taylor!” With all the commotion around him, it seemed like he needed a minute to collect himself as he ordered everyone to “relax” before the big meet-up.

His mission to meet Taylor, who walked away with four of the six gongs she was nominated for during the evening, was a huge success as he shared a selfie to his Stories, and then proudly posted it on his Instagram grid with a happy tear-faced and red heart emoji.

And it seems as though Anti-Hero hitmaker Taylor has been quite the fan of Stormzy for some time, as back in 2019, she explained that she’d “happily” lose to him in the charts as they battled it out for the UK number one position. Stormzy ultimately ended up beating Taylor with his hit Vossi Bop and secured his first UK number one.

While this is a friendship we didn’t expect, it’s something we can definitely get behind. And his Instagram followers felt the same, with one person commenting: “So wholesome. So happy. We love a man who manifests his dreams.”

Another user commented: “This is the single greatest photograph in the history of the world,” while a third wrote: “Omg you’re both royalty and that’s just that.”

It’s not difficult to see why Stormzy made it his mission during the evening to get a selfie with Taylor, who won the awards for the best artist, best video, best pop and best long-form video.

She is one of the most celebrated musicians of our time and recently made music history after becoming the first artist to claim the entire top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. This happened less than two weeks since she released her latest album, Midnights, on 21 October, which quickly shot to number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
