Strictly Come Dancing champion Rose Ayling-Ellis once made a cameo in a chart-topping boyband’s music video.

The EastEnders actress made history on Saturday night, as she became the first ever deaf contestant to lift the Glitterball trophy.

After winning the country’s heart alongside dance partner Giovanni Pernice, Rose, 27 is now tipped for huge success post-Strictly.

The Frankie Lewis actress is said to be on course to earn her first million and has even captured Hollywood’s attention.

Before becoming the nation’s sweetheart, Rose was once making cameos in music videos – including one for pop rock band The Vamps in 2017.

Rose starred in the music video for the British band’s single Middle of the Night, playing a character’s girlfriend as some of the lyrics were communicated through sign language.

Directed by Mike Baldwin, the video shows Rose as one half of a young couple struggling to communicate with each other throughout their relationship.

Released during Deaf Awareness Week, the pop video was praised for raising awareness of the deaf community and sign language.

During her victorious stint on Strictly Come Dancing, Rose and Italian dancer Giovanni incorporated sign language into many of their performances.

On Saturday night, the winning couple once again performed their Couple’s Choice routine – after first wowing BBC viewers and the judges during week eight.

Half way through their moving performance to the Clean Bandit song, Symphony, the sound went silent and the pair continued to dance beautifully without music.

In the past, Anton Du Beke dubbed the original performance the “greatest dance of all time” on Strictly.

After being crowned Strictly Come Dancing 2021 champion, the National Deaf Children’s Society hailed Rose as a “shining example”

“It’s hard to overstate just what an impact Rose has made, not only on deaf children and young people, but also on the public’s understanding of deafness,” Chief Executive Susan Daniels OBE said in a statement.

“Throughout her Strictly journey, she’s been a shining example to deaf and hearing people alike. This could be a new dawn for deaf children and young people everywhere because it’s clear for all to see that with the right support and the will to succeed, they can aim for the stars.”

She added: “Strictly may have come to an end, but we sincerely hope that this surge of interest in deafness and the desire to engage with deaf people continues long into the future.”

Strictly fans loved following Giovanni and Rose on their journey

Speaking to The Guardian on Sunday, Rose confessed the news of her victory hadn’t sunk in just yet.

“It was really weird – it felt like I was out of my body for a moment,” she said when recalling the night before.

“We celebrated last night. There was a bit of prosecco, and dancing.”

She also revealed that she had to have her makeup done not once, but twice, before lifting the iconic trophy.

“I was crying so much beforehand that I ran out of tears,” she told the publication.
