Stuart Bingham powered to an impressive 13-9 victory over Kyren Wilson at the Crucible to reach the World Snooker Championship quarter-finals for a fourth time.

The second round clash looked evenly matched beforehand and proved to be over the first two thirds of the contest, before the 2015 world champion surged to the finish line.

The pair began the third and final session of the match on Tuesday afternoon level at 8-8 but Wilson could not find the form that saw him win the final three frames of the previous session.

Bingham took the opening four frames on Monday afternoon as Wilson struggled, although the Essex man impressed with three half-centuries along the way.

The Warrior looked to be on his way home in the next, but Bingham missed match ball red and Wilson stayed alive by pinching the frame on the black.

That was as good as it got though, as Bingham took the 22nd and final frame, a scrappy affair, to make it into the last eight.

The former world champ rolled in an excellent final blue of the match to secure the win and gave the crowd a hearty fist pump to celebrate a great victory.

‘He’s just so tough,’ Bingham told the BBC of Wilson. ‘You think he’s gone a bit but he goes for his shots and can easy get on a roll.
