OAKLAND — A 14-year-old student was stabbed multiple times Wednesday morning in a parking lot at Skyline High School, authorities said.
He was taken to a hospital where he was in stable condition Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities said the stabbing happened about 11:32 a.m. Wednesday in a parking lot at the school, which is at 12250 Skyline Blvd.
Police later arrested a 15-year-old boy on the campus, but authorities did not say if he was a Skyline student.
The knife believed to be used in the stabbing was recovered on the school grounds, police said. Authorities said the two youths knew each other, but investigators were looking into what prompted the physical altercation that led to the stabbing.
It was unclear if the school was placed on lockdown while police searched for the suspect.
It was the Oakland Unified School District’s second stabbing in less than a month, after an incident shortly after 2 p.m. November 15 where a 17-year-old student stabbed a 16-year-old classmate at least three times in a hallway at West Oakland’s McClymonds High School.
