Lily Pittard, girlfriend of Fremantle Dockers defender Joel Hamling, celebrated her baby shower with family and friends at the weekend.

It appears the couple are expecting a little boy, as Pittard donned a baby blue dress and opted for blue decorations.

The lovebirds announced they were expecting their first child in March with a series of images posted to Instagram.

One image showed her growing baby bump with the caption, “growing a little human”.

The second showed the couple’s dog, Lenny, with its paw on a onesie and ultrasound.

The couple confirmed their baby is due in August but they have not revealed the gender.

Hamling re-shared his partner’s two photos with his own caption added to the one with their dog.

“Mini me let’s go,” he wrote.

It was welcome news for the AFL player, whose father died in December. In a touching Instagram tribute, Hamling remembered the pair’s close bond.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure Dad. I’m forever grateful for everything you have done for me,” he wrote.

“I’ll never ever forget what kind of bond we had. I bloody f…ing love you, mate. Until we meet again. RIP.”

Pittard also paid tribute to Hamling’s father.

In her own post, she wrote: “I will always cherish the memories with you and the friendship you gave to Joel. Thank you for everything.”

After growing up in Broome, Hamling became the No. 32 pick in the 2011 national draft.

He won a premiership with the Bulldogs in 2016 before being traded to the Dockers but his recent seasons have been cruelled by injuries.
