SELL
Sells of the week: Perth Wildcats not named Kristian Doolittle
It’s a Black Friday sale at Perth with their schedule looking like a black hole as far as double game rounds are concerned. The Perth guys have been popular items heading into the holiday season with Alex Sarr (41.4%), Bryce Cotton (35.4%) and Keanu Pinder (31.9%) being the three players with the highest ownership in NBL SuperCoach.
However, with only one double game round in the next seven rounds; it is time to trade Pinder, Sarr and Cotton out. If you do own all three of these players, Pinder would be the number one priority to trade with his high Break Even of 53. Despite his form, Cotton would be the second highest priority trade due to his value being able to be used on premium players on your court and allow for upgrades to your bench.
BENNY’S BREAK EVENS
Each week Benny will list some of the notable Break Evens for the week ahead – players with low Break Evens are set to rise in price while high Break Evens indicate a looming price drop. Sign up to SuperCoach Plus for the full list of Break Evens plus more stats and tools to help your team.
• Will Magnay (-18, 1 game)
• Trentyn Flowers (-1, 2 games)
• Taran Armstrong (5, 2 games)
• Jonah Bolden (2, 1 game)
• Keanu Pinder (53, 1 game)
• Shannon Scott (74, 2 games)
HOLD
Hold of the Week: Kristian Doolittle (PER) $271,500 FWD
In contrast to the aforementioned Perth players in the selling section, Kristian Doolittle is worth holding on your bench for a round or two yet. The benefit of playing a couple of single game rounds for Doolittle is that his season high score of 39 SuperCoach points will contribute to his price changes for the next two rounds. With a 4 game average of 32.75 and a Break Even of 6 this week, hold onto Doolittle and hope that he continues to do a lot.
Other players to consider holding:
Sam Waardenburg (CRN) $239,300 FWD/CTR
If you feel like you need permission to hold Sam Waardenburg again, here it is. He is a centre eligible player who plays 10 games over the next 5 rounds, including having double game rounds in rounds 10 and 13 where they are one of only two teams to do so. Across that same time period Keanu Pinder, Jo Lual Acuil and Sam Froling each play 6 games.
At a significant discount to those players, there is still viability in having Waardenburg in comparison. Alan Williams plays 7 games, across that same period and is a more tempting option but let me suggest an alternative in utilising Williams rather than bringing him in this week. Anthony Lamb (NZ) owners can trade him for DJ Hogg or Jaylen Adams (SYD) next week. Then trade those high cost players the following week to obtain Alan Williams. Let’s hope for some better SuperCoach scores from Sam in the interim.
Bobi Klintman (CRN) $216,900 FWD
Keep an eye out for injury news as Klintman re-aggravated a hip complaint last round forcing him to miss the Taipans last matchup. If you have a spare/luxury trade he is a candidate to trade out, however, we would not recommend using a boost to trade Klintman out if there is positive news on the injury front.
BANKSY’S BARGAINS
Each week Banksy will rank his favourite cheap players (under 200k) regardless of schedule.
* Will Magnay $203k is in our Buys of the week.
1. Taran Armstrong (CRN) $126,700 GRD
An absolute standout amongst the sub-$200k group. Taran is still amongst our best buys and you can read more below.
2. Trentyn Flowers (ADL) $109,200 GRD
Noting that Trey Kell missed again with a calf injury, the 36ers 2nd half comeback stemmed from a now healthy Jacob Wiley, a red hot Dejan Vasiljevic and a season high 26 minutes played by Flowers. Having been buried in the depth chart, could the 28 SuperCoach points lead to prolonged growth? He is well behind Taran as a priority trade in, but could be an option if he continues to get a sniff.
3. Lat Mayen (CRN) $167,900 GRD/FWD
Whilst we are awaiting an update on Bobi Klintman’s hip injury, it was promising to see Lat play over 20 minutes again despite the remainder of the Cairns stars returning. Given Cairns’ schedule, he could be a bench stash that continues to pay off over the next 5 weeks.
4. Bilwali Bayles (ILL) $62,800 GRD
We were all interested to see the impact Coach Tatum would have on the Hawks’ rotation, as it turned out, all 12 Hawks saw playing time in a competitive match. Most surprising for the Hawks were the 14 minutes played by Bayles resulting in 12 SuperCoach points. If he maintains the role of first guard off the bench, he could have some value for us as a downgrade option in the future.
5. Flynn Cameron (MEL) $136,000 GRD
Future NBL SuperCoach star Flynn Cameron continues to excel when given the opportunity. Playing 26 minutes in his last 2 matches has resulted in SuperCoach scores of 26 and 19. Even if Delly and Clark return this round, Dean Vickerman should have one eye on the finals series and look to keep his experienced guards fresh. Cameron should have a role to play for the remainder of the season.
BUY
Buy of the Week: Tahjere McCall (CRN) $330,100 GRD
McCall me maybe? More like McCall me up for round 9. Coming off his interrupted preseason, McCall has built his way up with scores of 6, 21, 23, 26 and most recently 36 SuperCoach points. This most recent score is traditionally where we have seen McCall having averaged 33.64 and 32.05 SuperCoach points in the prior two seasons. McCall only needs to average 25 SuperCoach points per game this round to meet his Break Even. Cairns have the perfect schedule over the next 5 weeks with all rounds being double game rounds. We should all feel comfortable to play McCall on our starting courts at the Forward or Guard positions again.
BOYDIE’S BEST BUYS
Each week Boydie will rank the other best buys for the week ahead.
1. Patrick Miller (CRN) $349,100 GRD
Patty Mills returned after his injury and did not disappoint the owners who, maybe foolishly, held on to him during his injury like me (Boydie). 68 SuperCoach points over 74 mins in the Cairns double is almost right back to where Miller left off before getting injured. With Cairns schedule and now having seen him play alongside McCall and Armstrong (some saw this as a little red flag earlier) I think Pat is a no brainer buy for your team this round.
2. Taran Armstrong (CRN) $126,700 FWD
Ok so you’ve missed out on Taran being as cheap as Cairns of beans, but there is no reason why he shouldn’t be on your shopping list this week. 40 SuperCoach points in Rd 8 over 47 mins and a price of only $126.7k still, a low Break Even and with all those games over the next 5 rounds compared to other teams. Get him in.
3. Anthony Lamb (NZ) $361,700 FWD
Spring Lamb is still popular at the butchers this week and there is no reason why that shouldn’t be the case in SuperCoach too. Coming off the top score of 91 for the round league wide, Lamb is in form and with the Breakers still on a double round this week he could be a little 1 week rental for those teams that do not own him currently, although if he keeps putting up scores of 40+ like he has in 3 of his last 4 games then he is start-able on a double next round with only Cairns and Sydney having doubles next round.
4. Will Magnay (TAS) $203,000 FWD/CTR
MagNay or MagYay? We’ve gotten excited before about big Willy and after his 50 SuperCoach point game in the JJ’s first game of Round 8, it’s hard not too! 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks in a little over 16 mins is huge points per minute. While his 19 SuperCoach points in the JJ’s 2nd game of the round is nothing to write home about, he filled up each stat category with 6 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks so that is encouraging. At $203k and with a negative Break Even heading into round 9, he might be worth stockpiling for Tasmania’s consecutive double game rounds in rounds 11 & 12.
5. Johan Bolden (SYD) $247,200 FWD/CTR
A bit outside the square here but as we have been saying this since he was signed. The talent is there if he gets rolling; and over Sydney’s last couple of games Jonah has done just that. He had 32 SuperCoach points in Round 7 on 13 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and a block and steal; followed up with a 28 SuperCoach point game last round v Melbourne with 10 points, 9 rebounds (so close to double-double again!) 2 blocks and a steal and assist. Sydney’s schedule is getting a little juicy here especially with only them and Cairns on the double in Round 10. Bolden is a nice little stash for a Round 10 start with a low break even heading into round 9.
6. Josh Bannan (BRI) $358,200 GRD
7. Parker Jackson-Cartwright (NZ) $357,100 GRD
8. Jacob Wiley (ADL) $230,700 FWD/CTR
9. Dejan Vasiljevic (ADL) $274,300 GRD
