Superdrug is hosting free bereavement makeup tutorials in partnership with Marie Curie – and we are seriously here for it. There’s no denying that the power of beauty is often vastly overlooked. Often seen as superficial when in fact a new hair cut or colour, a freshly threaded brow or taking the time out to paint a full face of makeup can make such a huge difference to your overall mood and outlook. Trust us, we’re the first people to turn to the healing hands of beauty, especially when the going gets tough.

And things have been very tough for all of us over the last few years, and highstreet store Superdrug is acknowledging that with the launch of its new series of makeup masterclasses.

The brand has joined forces with Marie Curie and Eve Jenkins, a makeup artist, influencer and former contestant on BBC’s Glow Up as part of its year-long ‘Make-Up For Me Time’ campaign. The sessions, the first of which is being held on 8 August 2022, have been designed for young people who’ve experienced bereavement or are grieving.

Eve will be creating a summer-themed makeup look using products that each attendee will receive from Superdrug before the event, and she’ll be proving just how incredible makeup and self-care can be and how much difference taking some time out for yourself can make to anybody who’s going through a difficult time.

The average age that people experience their first bereavement is 20, and Marie Curie say they hope these masterclasses will be a source of comfort, as well as acting as a support when you might need it most. That’s why, alongside the summer look, you’ll also hear from a Marie Curie Bereavement Coordinator and somebody who’s accessed, experienced and benefitted from Marie Curie’s services.
