Mr Kipling Angel Slices and PG Tips teabags are among a range of supermarket products that have seen the steepest climb in costs according to recent data. The latest price watch found that special offer items sold in UK chains are no longer part of discount schemes, with prices now 146 percent higher in some cases.
Rising inflation rates have triggered a steep increase in food prices across major supermarket chains.
Shopping-list staples including Mr Kipling cakes, Birds Eye potato waffles and Heinz Spaghetti Hoops have risen in cost by more than 140 percent according to the latest Grocer 33.
The trade magazine revealed that tea-time favourites, Mr Kipling Angel Slices, saw the biggest annual price hike, now costing £3.50 for a 6-pack of the sweet treats.
Once sold for just £1.42 in budget supermarket Asda, the inflated cost marks a 146 percent rise.
