Sydney cinema fans have had a stellar few days as Barbie star Margot Robbie greeted a sea of pink-clad fans on Friday and Mission Impossible’s Tom Cruise arrived in style Saturday morning via private jet.
Cruise is in town ahead of the premiere of Mission Impossible’s next instalment, Dead Reckoning Part One.
Arriving at Sydney Airport in a dark coat, pants and blue cap, the 60-year-old Top Gun star will be joined on Monday night’s red carpet by director Christopher McQuarrie.
The latest instalment of the popular franchise, Dead Reckoning will be released in two parts — the first premiering Monday in Sydney and the second slated for release in 2024.
Part One will see Cruise star alongside Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames and more, and will include death-defying stunts true to form for the actor including riding a motorbike off a cliff and ‘speed-flying’.
In stark contrast, Australian darling Margot Robbie took to Pitt Street mall on Friday which had turned pink with fans of the hotly anticipated Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig.
Robbie, Gerwig and fellow Barbie stars America Ferrara and Issa Rae signed autographs and took photos with ecstatic fans in all shades of pink.
Robbie — who is also a producer on the film — then jetted off to South Korea to continue her whirlwind press tour, arriving at the airport in top-to-toe Barbie pink, no less, an Adidas X Gucci pink sweatshirt, pink trousers, carrying a pink Chanel handbag and sporting pink platform Versace sandals.
Barbie will be released later this month.
