Suriya and Jyotika donate Rs. 1 crore towards the welfare of the Irula tribe ahead of the release of Jai Bhim : Bollywood News – Bollywood Hungama


Suriya and Jyotika are a power couple and deliver strong messages through their films. Ahead of the release of Jai Bhim starring Suriya in the lead and produced by the couple’s 2D Entertainment, they donated Rs. 1 crore to the welfare of the Irula tribe. The couple handed over the cheque to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. Retired Justice K Chandru and members of Pazhankudi Irular Trust received the cheque from Suriya, Jyotika, and MK Stalin on Monday.

Suriya’s film Jai Bhim tells the real-life story about the custodial torture meted out to the members of the Irula tribe in the mid-1990s. Directed by Tha Se Gnananvel, Jai Bhim speaks about caste discrimination and injustice subjected to the Irula tribe.

Suriya and Jyptika donated the amount on behalf of their production house, 2D Entertainment. The production house wrote, “Rs. 1Cr was donated towards the welfare of the Irula Tribe, by @Suriya_offl Sir & #Jyotika Ma’am on behalf of 2D in the presence of our Hon’ble Chief Minister of TN @mkstalin the cheque was handed over to Justice K. Chandru (Retd) & members of Pazhangudi Irula Trust. #JaiBhim (sic).”

Jai Bhim is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
