Surprising Perth school named one of WA’s BEST performers

A public primary school in Perth’s south where three-quarters of its students come from a non-English speaking background has been named one of WA’s best performing schools based on national reading, writing and maths tests.

Caladenia Primary School in Canning Vale is among 20 schools in WA to be singled out for its NAPLAN achievements in a list compiled by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority.

From Wednesday, parents will be able to see how their child’s school performed on NAPLAN tests held last year when the My School website is updated.

To coincide with the update, ACARA has identified “high-performing” primary and secondary schools in each State which are punching above their weight.

The list — which excludes selective schools — is based on each school’s performance in the past three years relative to their level of socio-educational advantage.

WA’s list includes 14 public schools, five independent schools — of which four are Islamic colleges — and just one Catholic school.

ACARA also released a list of the top three performing schools by area which highlight stellar performances by schools in city and country regions.
