Suryakumar Yadav becomes 1st Indian to register three consecutive golden ducks in ODIs, second in all formats

Suryakumar
Yadav
(32)
is
not
the
first
Indian
to
achieve
the
embarrassing
feat
as
far
as
international
cricket
is
concerned
as
Washington
Sundar
registered
the
same
during
T20Is
between
December
2019
and
January
2020.

Suryakumar Yadav

Sundar
was
out
for
a
golden
duck
in
three
back-to-back
innings
against
West
Indies,
Sri
Lanka
and
New
Zealand
across
three
different
series.
SKY,
however,
suffered
the
plight
during
India
vs
Australia
ODI
series
with
ducks
in
Mumbai
and
Vishakapatnam
in
space
of
six
days.

Overall,
the
explosive
middle-order
batter
became
the
fifth
Indian
to
get
out
for
three
consecutive
ducks
behind
batting
great
Sachin
Tendulkar
(1994),
Anil
Kumble
(1994),
Zaheer
Khan
(2003-04),
Ishant
Sharma
(2010-11)
and
Jasprit
Bumrah
(2017-19).

In
all
formats,
former
pacer
Ajit
Agarkar
holds
the
Indian
and
joint
international
record
of
five
consecutive
ducks
in
Test.

Suryakumar’s
third
golden
duck
came
at
a
crucial
stage
of
the
match
as
India
were
down
to
185/5
with
50-up
Virat
Kohli
back
in
the
pavilion
while
India
were
chasing
270
in
the
series
decider.

Facing
Agar,
who
bowled
a
terrific
spell
that
kept
Kohli
on
his
toe
for
much
of
the
game,
SKY
failed
to
read
a
skidder
that
fell
on
the
off
stump
and
kept
low
to
hit
the
wicket.

Earlier,
Australia
were
all
out
for
269
in
49
overs
after
Steve
Smith
chose
to
bat
first
following
toss.
Opener
Mitchell
Marsh,
who
scored
half-centuries
in
the
first
two
games
of
the
series,
scored
a
47
while
Alex
Carey
(38)
and
Travis
Head
(33)
played
crucial
knocks
as
well.

Hardik
Pandya
(3/44)
and
Kuldeep
Yadav
(3/56)
were
pick
among
Indian
bowlers
while
Mohammad
Siraj
(2/37)
and
Axar
Patel
(2/56)
were
among
wickets
as
well.
