Sydney Sweeney Went Brunette With a Modern Take on “The Rachel” Haircut

Italy is where it’s at right now. There, Sydney Sweeney is living her best touristy life with short face-framing layers, light brown hair, and a cozy fleece hat that made their debut on her Instagram page on Tuesday, December 13. Yes, when she’s in character on Euphoria and The White Lotus, the blonde hair thrives — but now, as she enjoys Rome, the actor has embraced Europe with a hair color that takes her back to her roots (literally).

The color, toned by hairstylist Glen Coco Oropeza, is flourishing; Oropeza confirmed on the ‘gram that he used Wella Professionals hair dye to glaze her back to brown. Her new modern take on “The Rachel” haircut is thriving, too. “The Rachel,” an on-and-off accent of Jennifer Aniston’s character Rachel Green in Friends, became an inspiration for many in the ‘90s. Hairstylist Chris McMillan brought the original to life, and people around the globe have since kept its legacy going. It made a big comeback in 2021 and might even be coming back for more in 2023, based on this look alone.

We’ve yet to confirm if Sweeney’s cut was an intentional take on the look. But, if you swipe to the third photo, you’ll catch the actor showing off her décolletage-length style up close, without those additional layers that fell right at Green’s cheekbones as seen in the original ’90s look.
