I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: I’m not into the French manicure. Before the French mani loyalists bring out the torches and pitchforks, I won’t be dragging the classic manicure. Actually, I’m doing the opposite because I’m kind of liking SZA‘s “Mild Hoochie” French manicure.
On July 5, the singer shared a close-up of her bedazzled nails, which nail artist Master Weenay filed and painted. I’m in love with the nude base shade she created for SZA’s nails because the darker and warmer shade complements her skin much better than the light nude shades — beige, tan, and pale pink — typically used in French manicures.
Instead, Master Weenay painted each tip with a warm nude-pink color and then drew a C-curve tip on each nail. Then she adhered a different 3D charm to each nail. SZA posted one hand, so the only nail decals you can see are two cherries, a bedazzled pink Playboy bunny, a gold dollar sign, and a small gilded figure of Jesus on the cross. Given how random the charms were on this hand, I wonder if the other hand has the same charms or a whole set of different ones.
I’m kind of obsessed with SZA’s name for these nails (likely because I love using the phrase “hoochie mama”). But I’m wondering, what makes these “mild” hoochie nails versus whole, or perhaps “medium,” hoochie nails? Are whole hoochie nails longer? A different color? More gem-packed?
