Prannoy progressed to the quarter-final after straight games win against unseeded Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia in the second round on Thursday (June 22). The Indian shuttler eased past the Indonesian by a scoreline of 21-9, 21-17 in the round of 16 match that lasted for 36 minutes.
In the opening round, the Malaysia Masters champion and third-seeded Prannoy breezed past Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yu Hsien with a straight games win by a scoreline of 21-11, 21-10.
Angus, on the other hand, eased past Malaysia’s Cheam Jun Wei in the other second round match to reach quarter-final. The fifth seeded Hong Kong shuttler defeated the Malaysian opponent 21-14, 21-13 in the round of 16 match that lasted for 34 minutes.
Earlier in the first round, the German Open champion defeated Prannoy’s compatriot Meiraba Luwang Maisnam via straight games in a closely contested match that ended 21-18, 21-17 in favour of the shuttler from Hong Kong.
