The marathon innings also saw Beamount become the first England women’s cricketer to score a double-century for the national team in a women’s Test and also the eight player overall to reach the landmark.

Tammy Beamount

Beamount took 317 deliveries to reach the double hundred in an innings that included 26 fours. Her knock of 208, however, is not the highest individual score in women’s Test cricket as that record is held by former Pakistan batter Kiran Baluch, who scored 242 in 2004.

Beamount is also behind the likes of former India captain Mithali Raj as well as Australian duo Ellyse Perry and Karen Rolton in the list for highest run-scorers in women’s Tests. Here is a look at the top 10.

Beaumont, who started the morning session of day 3 unbeaten on 100, reached the 150-run mark just after lunch, becoming the ninth woman to reach the milestone for England. After tea, the England batter, who had scored her maiden hundred, also reached double-century.

Her knock of 208 was the highest by an English women’s cricketer as she surpassed many past and current players of England en-route to her landmark. Beamount went past the likes of Heather Knight and Natalie Sciver-Brunt during her knock.

The 32-year-old England batter broke an 88-year-old record held by Betty Snowball as she raced to the top of the England individual higest scorers list with her double hundred, the first for an English women’s cricketer.
