Rising Canadian star Tate McRae continued her global ascent over the weekend as she took the stage at the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards to perform a medley of her songs “She’s All I Wanna Be” and “Uh Oh.”

McRae opened her performance with “She’s All I Wanna Be,” featuring backup dancers in glass cages on the central part of the stage. After the stage went dark, the 19-year-old transitioned to her most recent solo release “Uh Oh,” where she received heavy applause from the viewers.

Prior to her performance, MTV News interviewed McRae asking her how she felt about returning to Germany to perform after selling out her shows during her previous world tour.

“I’m excited,” she exclaimed. “This will be like one of my first ever live in-person music award performances, which is really crazy, so I’m kinda nervous. But this will be my first time dancing and I’m doing a mashup of two songs which will be really fun.”

McRae released her debut album I Used to Think I Could Fly back in May and featured “She’s All I Wanna Be,” her highest charting song from the project. “Uh Oh” isn’t attached to any album, but could end up on a future project should McRae want.

On Nov. 3, McRae and Dutch DJ Tiesto released their first collaborative effort “10:35,” shot in Dubai.

On her European promo tour, McRae also made a successful call to have her Wikipedia changed. She told BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge that no, she was not a backup dancer on Justin Bieber’s Purpose Tour, as the site said.

“Wikipedia has done me so dirty,” she said. “I mean, everyone has said to me, ‘Oh my God! You were Justin Bieber’s main backup dancer! I was 12!’ There’s no chance I would be his backup dancer.”

To clarify, she was one of many kids invited on the stage to dance with Bieber on that tour.
