July 4 may be over, but Taylor Swift is only just getting around to posting her photos from her festivities with friends. But while she’s still celebrating Independence Day, we’re celebrating her casual take on curly bangs.
In a photo carousel posted to Instagram (and Twitter, too, because she apparently hasn’t joined Threads yet) on July 7, Swift shared several photos that show her hanging out with what she refers to in the caption as “your local neighborhood independent girlies.” That includes her dear friend Selena Gomez, who she’s seen hugging while holding a body brush (it’s anyone’s guess as to why) and sharing a patriotic popsicle. In those photos, we start getting a glimpse at how Swift’s bangs aren’t smoothly blown out as they usually are.
It’s not until the third slide — a solo shot of Swift sitting on a ledge near the ocean — that we can very clearly see that her signature blunt, straight bangs aren’t straight at all. The salty air is having its way with her natural texture, making the fringe flip adorably in different directions. It brings to mind when Swift sang in the rain during the Nashville stop of her Eras tour, inevitably bringing out her curls.
