Taylor Swift’s Hair Is Doing Some Kind of Magic on the Eras Tour

After much Ticketmaster drama, tons of speculation about which songs would make the setlist and many, many clever fan costumes shared to TikTok, the Eras Tour is finally here, and Taylor Swift’s hair is ready.

Swift took the stage in Glendale, Arizona for the first installment of her highly anticipated tour looking like classic Taylor Swift: long, straight ash blonde hair with her trademark bangs, cat eye liner and cherry red lipstick. Despite the fact that she was revisiting every era of her illustrious career, including the countrified days of her self-titled debut with those ringlet curls and cowboy boots and the goth glam of the Reputation album cycle, Swift stuck to her go-to beauty look amidst the many costume changes. But that doesn’t mean her hair wasn’t making some magic onstage; her back-grazing blonde had a life of its own as she performed her earliest hits and newest releases.

Throughout the three-hour performance, Swift donned sparkling bodysuits and boots, princessy ballgowns and snake print catsuits, and as she slipped into the different costumes and personas, her hair changed right along with her. In high energy moments, it was electric and airborne, flying above her head as if it had a life of its own. In more introspective moments, it was artfully tousled. When she chair danced to her Midnights song “Vigilante Shit,* her bangs swished and swayed along with the fringe of her bodysuit. Maybe she didn’t throw it back to those “Tim McGraw”-era curls, but it truly felt like her hair was an active participant in each performance.
