Taylor Swift’s Midnights: Everything we know about the new album

“I want your midnights, but I’ll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year’s Day,” sang Taylor Swift on Lover. How long has she been planning this!? Ever since she used her VMA win for “All Too Well” to announce TS10, we’ve been counting down the days-hours-minutes ’til Blondie drops Midnights, her upcoming studio album.

And like any Swift project rollout, this journey is filled with Easter eggs, fan theories, and plenty of speculation. Swift is even in on it! The Midnights Era has begun! From merch to titles to the all-important theme, here’s everything we know about Midnights.

It’ll be out October 21.

Some have noted that this is Kim Kardashian’s birthday, while others point out that the date —10/21 — can be added up to equal Swift’s lucky number, 13 (10 + 2 + 1).

The songs are about… midnights!

“This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching — hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve…we’ll meet ourselves,” Swift wrote in a first-look promotional post shared via Instagram

Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight.”

Jack Antonoff is a producer, duh.

In Swift’s “making of Midnights” montage, her longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff can be seen working on the project.

“It makes a clock.”

There are three special edition versions of the album available for pre-order, including on vinyl, and when combined with the standard version and turned over, you can make a clock (clock hand not included, we assume).
