A teacher has been arrested after a video emerged appearing to show her inject a teenager with a shot of what is claimed to be a Covid-19 vaccine.

Laura Russo, 54, is accused of giving the 17-year-old a jab in her Long Island, New York, home on New Year’s Eve without his parents’ consent, it’s reported.

The biology teacher at Herricks High School, who is not medically qualified, was then arrested.

If convicted, she could be jailed for four years.

In the video shared by News 4, Ms Russo can be seen wiping the boy’s shoulder before taking a needle and administering a liquid in his arm.

‘Here you go, at-home vaccine,’ the boy, who is believe to be a friend of Ms Russo’s son, can be heard saying.

When he got home, the teenager admitted to his parents that he was given a shot of a vaccine.

Police say it is unclear how Ms Russo obtained the alleged Covid-19 vaccine, or what brand it is, the news channel reported.

At the moment, the Pfizer-BioNTech jab is the only one authorised for Americans under 18.

Dr. Aaron Glatt, chief of infectious diseases at Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital in Oceanside, commented on the incident: ‘Besides being illegal, it’s just not a smart thing to do.

‘An authorized, licensed professional should be providing vaccines to know how to give them properly to make sure if there’s a complication that can be dealt with immediately and very efficiently.’

Ms Russo has been charged with unauthorised practice of a profession and she is set to appear in court on January 21.
