Teen’s first skincare routine: What to use and how to start

0

Teenage skin care has a fickleness of its own. Things are less complicated in some ways and more in others. You don’t have to worry about numerous serum mixes and using multiple products to get that glow and freshness since it comes naturally to young skin. However, at the same time, the skin starts developing acne and secreting oil creating havoc on the face. It’s best to keep a teen’s first skincare routine as simple and moderate as possible. The only goal should be to have healthy skin. The idea is to introduce products gradually and not start everything at once. Slow and steady wins the race, and in this instance, slow and steady increases your chances of finding a probable allergen or irritant. In this stage eliminating imperfections is less important than preserving the health of your skin. The optimum skincare routine for teenagers could be defined under a CMS ( Cleanse, Moisturise, Sunscreen) program. Teens need to be extra careful at this stage since their skin could use all the gentle loving care it can get.

In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Prasanna Vasanadu, Founder of Tikitoro, suggested how teens can take care of their skin through the CMS skincare routine.

Step 1: Cleanse

Teens must cleanse their skin regularly regardless of their skin type. If you don’t want to dry up your skin, pick a gentle cleanser and if you have acne-prone skin, choose an oil-free or salicylic acid-containing cleanser. It is also important to give the t-zone extra care when cleaning your face.

Step 2: Moisturize

Lotion: Make sure to moisturize both before sleeping and after you wake up. Selecting moisturizers that are non-greasy will keep your skin nourished without making it look glossy. Even if your skin tends to create a lot of oil, moisturize. It will help prevent & control any other additional breakouts.

Body wash and lip balm: The lip balm and body wash you use also play a crucial role in moisturizing; moisturizing is a step that goes beyond using a lotion. Like your Face and Body, your lips require extra care and consideration too. You should try applying a moisturizing lip balm regularly, particularly in the morning and at night to keep your lips hydrated and to prevent tears.

Similarly, it’s crucial to use a body wash that won’t strip your skin of its moisture. Always use a body wash that hydrates and purifies your skin without causing it to become dry, leaving it bright and healthy.

Step 3: Sunscreen

Good sunscreen is very essential for all, especially teens. Brutal burns can be brought on by UVB radiation emitted by the sun. By using sunscreen you can prevent skin burns and keep your skin safe from harmful ultraviolet radiation

In conclusion, keep it simple. Cleanse and hydrate regularly to keep your skin healthy and nourished. Last but not least, make it a habit to perform the entire routine every time, regardless of how exhausted you are. The sooner you start, the happier your skin will be, and the easier it will be for it to become a daily process!
