TemDAO Uses Blockchain For Cultural Preservation

0

In an unusual mix of religion and technology, TemDAO uses the features of Blockchain to provide secure and transparent funding to support world heritage projects. TemDAO is a decentralized autonomous organization which is a collective that’s owned and governed by the people who create the organization’s value. Members of the organization use crypto tokens, in this case the Tem token, to give them a place in decision-making. Based on the Tem token, the project emphasizes long-term sustainability for various cultural sites across the world.

Recently, the project has made substantial donations to bolster preservation efforts in Ukraine and Turkey, aiming to help communities maintain their heritage.

TemDAO’s groundbreaking approach combines innovative strategies with the grassroots involvement of local individuals and organizations. The project is currently collaborating with Ninna-ji temple, a historic temple in Kyoto, Japan, in a bid to reconstruct the aging structure through charitable donations.

The organization says that blockchain technology is a major asset for TemDAO, because all transactions are recorded on-chain, eliminating the risk of corruption and creating a secure and accountable environment. Donors receive special opportunities as a token of appreciation, such as the opportunity to stay in historically significant parts of the temple.

In their pursuit of sustainable restoration and preservation, TemDAO said that it is merging the world of Buddhism at Ninna-ji Temple with their decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) model.

“In a rapidly changing world, we often forget the essence of who we are and where we come from,” says Kei Sugimura, TemDAO’s Marketing Director. “At TemDAO, we are bridging the past and the future, combining innovative technology with cultural heritage. Through our project, we are leveraging the powers of democracy and blockchain to preserve and protect the world’s most precious cultural assets.”

“Our recent contributions to countries like Ukraine and Turkey, and our collaboration with Ninna-ji Temple in Japan, highlight our commitment to cultural preservation,” Sugimura continued. “We aim to create a world where every community can sustainably maintain its cultural footprint for generations to come.”

At the core of TemDAO is the TEM token, which is a secure cryptocurrency. This system involves two forms of voting: off-chain (“soft” governance) and on-chain voting. The TEM token, a crucial component of this system, has multiple applications that allow token holders to influence decision-making processes and fund allocation, trade IP-NFTs, and become reviewing nodes that help maintain fairness and integrity in the project.

The TEM token distribution is designed to reward all stakeholders in a democratic fashion. A majority share of the tokens (62%) goes towards ecosystem participants involved in world heritage or cultural asset protection, and for the procurement of essential equipment and repairs. Another 28% of the tokens are divided equally between marketing and platform development, while the remaining 10% belongs to TemDAO stakeholders such as the team, investors, prospective employees, and strategic partners.

Recently, the TEM project team made donations from TEM profits to assist communities affected by global crises. For instance, funds were donated to Ukraine in the aftermath of the 2022 Russian invasion and to Turkey following a devastating earthquake in February 2023. These actions showcase the team’s commitment to the preservation of global heritage through direct aid.

In addition to helping protect world cultural heritage, TemDAO is a comprehensive DAO accelerator that facilitates the governance and development of cultural properties across the world. The team has partnered with The Giving Block, a leading name in the world of crypto charities, to strengthen its fundraising efforts. By actively supporting communities in times of global crises, TemDAO helps ensure the preservation of shared heritage for future generations.
