Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has spoken out after his side’s 3-0 win over Sheriff on Thursday night. The Red Devils went into the game looking to boost their chances of topping their Europa League group. And they did just that, with Diogo Dalot, Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo all on target.
Manchester United were too strong for Sheriff on Thursday night, with Ten Hag’s side in cruise control as they claimed all three points.
Dalot put the Red Devils ahead just before half time, with the Portugal international heading home after a pinpoint cross from Christian Eriksen.
United then doubled their lead through Rashford in the 65th minute, with the England star also heading home after a delivery from Luke Shaw.
In the closing stages, Ronaldo made the game safe.
The Portugal international struck at the second attempt to net his third goal this season – and his first since being reinstated to the team following his sulk against Tottenham last week.
All in all, it was a good night for Ten Hag and his side. And, speaking after the game, he was happy for his No 7 after overcoming a difficult period with a key moment in the game.
Man Utd transfers: Plans for next three signings are damning on Solskjaer
“He created, the team creates for him, and we know he can finish,” he said when asked about Ronaldo.
“He needs a goal over that point and then there will come more goals I am confident of that.”
Another player he was grilled on was Antony.
The Brazil international angered his manager with some showboating before the interval – with the 22-year-old then hooked in the aftermath of the result.
But Ten Hag has now insisted he didn’t hook Antony for his poor skills, insisting he doesn’t have a problem with it as long as it’s ‘functional’.

Rashford also spoke out after the game, with the United striker now on six goals for the campaign.
That’s one more than he managed across all competitions last term under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.
And Rashford said: “They set up to defend well and play on counter.
“It took us a while and got the first goal from a set piece so we’re happy with that.
“Once we went 1-0 ahead, the space opened up and we could have got a few more.

“Not getting the first goal quickly leads to a mix between frustration and calmness, you have to be calm to create chances and be clinical in taking them.
“Scoring before half-time was a big help, it allowed us to look for more goals and space and we found them. It was about getting the job done.”
On next week’s trip to Real Sociedad, he then added: “We have to go there and score by two goals.
“We have to score goals but defend well. It is going to be a tough game but looking forward to the challenge.
“It’s taken a lot of hard work to adapt and change, but we’re getting there.”
