One of the most terrifying clowns is coming back to our screens. Terrifier 2 will be released later this week, just in time for Halloween! Art the Clown is set to return in the highly anticipated sequel to 2016’s Terrifier, doing everything he does best — terrify! Writer, producer, and director of the first Terrifier, Damien Leone, was the first to announce that the sequel script was complete in February 2019 on Instagram. Because Leone did not want to sell the right of Art the Clown to bigger studios, he secured funding from private investors. Leone additionally launched an Indiegogo campaign to help finance the special effects. The campaign proved to be a massive success when it reached $250k over a $50k goal, with fans highly anticipating the sequel. Because of the success of the campaign, Leone confirmed that there would be a third and fourth film.

Casting was then announced in September and October 2019, with filming beginning that same month. However, due to COVID-19, production was halted in March 2020, delaying the film’s release. But Leone did release a teaser trailer for Terrifier 2 in July 2020, giving fans a sneak peek of Art the Clown back to terrorizing on Halloween. Leone announced in July 2021 on his Instagram that filming had officially wrapped.

Art the Clown was first introduced in Leone’s All Hollows Eve, with the first Terrifier expanding who he is. He is regarded as one of the creepiest clowns in cinema purely because he never speaks or utters a single sound. Terrifier focused on Art The Clown stalking and terrorizing three girls on Halloween night. One of the girls, Victoria, ends up surviving the night but not without a disfigured face from Art the Clown eating her face. The trailer for Terrifier 2 was released on August 23rd. Terrifier 2 then had its world premiere at FrightFest on August 29th, with fans who were at the event praising the sequel on social media, believing it is better than the first.

Along with Leone, the film is produced by Phil Falcone, Steven Della Salla, Jason Leavy, and Michael Leavy. Executive producers include Cairo Ben Amen II, Joshua Anderson, Steven Caruso, Lisa Falcone, Hank Greenberg, Marcus McGill, Larry Bilello, Thomas Smith, and Steven Barton.

As horror fans anticipate the release of Terrifier 2, here is everything we know.

Terrifier 2: The Plot

Terrifier 2 will focus again on Halloween night, one year after the events from the first film. After being resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to Miles County, where he targets a teenage girl, Sienna, and her younger brother on Halloween night.

The biggest criticism that the first Terrifier received was that there was a lack of narrative. Leone took that criticism to create a more character-driven storyline for Terrifier 2. In an interview with Halloween Daily News, Leone got into further detail about the film’s main protagonist, Sienna, who is dressed like an angel for Halloween. He says:

“She is the heart and soul of Part 2, and everything just revolves around that character. So I always knew that seed was there. And I wrote it relatively quick. When I actually had time to sit down and do nothing but write the script, I think I wrote it in like three months. And it just sort of flowed out of me. It came really, really natural, which is a good thing, I think.”

Leone promises Terrifier 2 will be even gorier and bloodier than its predecessor.

Terrifier 2: The Cast

Terrifier 2 will star David Howard Thorton, who will reprise his role from the first film as Art the Clown. Lauren LaVera (Iron Fist) will play the lead role of Sienna, the film’s main protagonist and heroine. Newcomer Elliot Fullman plays Jonathan, Sienna’s little brother who, on Halloween night, before the terrifying events, wants to dress like Art the Clown for Halloween.

Along with Thorton, other cast members will return to Terrifier 2, including Samantha Scaffidi as Victoria, one of Art the Clown’s victims in the first film. Victoria was the only victim to survive, but not without a permanent mark on her face. In the first Terrifier, Art the Clown was in the middle of eating her face until the police arrived, leaving Victoria with permanent disfigurement, changing her life, and becoming the antihero.

Additional returning cast members include the two police officers rumored to be reprising their roles and Micahel Levy, who in the first Terrifier played Will the Exterminator but will return as the voice of the club DJ in Terrifier 2.

Release Date

Terrifier 2 is set to have a limited theatrical release on October 6th through Bloody Disgusting before streaming exclusively only on Screambox.
