Terrifying: Passenger flight lands with door open [watch]

Passengers on an Asiana Airlines flight were shocked and terrified when the Airbus A321-200 they were flying on had one of its doors opened during the final stages of the flight.

The aircraft which was carrying almost 200 passengers, filled with violent blasts of wind while it descended through the air.

TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE

Passengers on the scheduled flight were thrown into distress as their flight approached the runway at Daegu International Airport, about 240 km southeast of Seoul in the Republic of Korea.

This was not a smooth landing for the Asiana flight as a passenger seated near one of the aircraft’s emergency exits opened a door while the aircraft was coming in for landing.

When the plane was about 200 meters above the ground, a male passenger sitting near an emergency exit opened the door manually, a representative of the South Korean airline told AFP, per News24.

TERRIFIED PASSENGERS

Flying with an open door open is extremely dangerous. Fortunately, the terrifying experience did not result in the loss of life.

“It was chaos, with people close to the door appearing to faint one by one and flight attendants calling out for doctors on board through broadcasting,” a 44-year-old passenger told Yonhap, per BBC.

A video shows passengers screaming and shouting while strong gusts of wind blast into the cabin.

“I thought the plane was blowing up. I thought I was going to die like this,” he added.
