Tesco and Sainsbury’s shoppers hit with urgent food recall of popular houmous

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a recall for Ramona’s Heavenly Original Houmous over fears it may contain pieces of plastic.

Sold in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons, customers who have purchased the product have been urged to check the use-by date.

Though not all batches are affected, those that are contaminated pose a serious risk to consumers.

The FSA explained: “The possible presence of plastic presents a possible choking hazard and makes this product unsafe to eat.”

Point of sale notices have been issued in all stores that sell the product and retailers will offer a full refund to those affected.

A spokesperson for the brand said: “We are really sorry about this but delivering the best quality product is our number one priority and we cannot take the risk of you finding plastic in the product.”

The product retails for £3 in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons, and is currently available online. Ocado also sells the popular dip for an inflated price of £3.25.
