The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a recall for Ramona’s Heavenly Original Houmous over fears it may contain pieces of plastic.
Sold in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons, customers who have purchased the product have been urged to check the use-by date.
Though not all batches are affected, those that are contaminated pose a serious risk to consumers.
The FSA explained: “The possible presence of plastic presents a possible choking hazard and makes this product unsafe to eat.”
Point of sale notices have been issued in all stores that sell the product and retailers will offer a full refund to those affected.
