Food recalls are not common, but must be taken seriously when they do happen. Major supermarkets Tesco, Asda and Iceland have recently recalled food products, which potential consumers must be aware of.

It also issued advice to Asda customers regarding the recall. This read: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to soya, and/or coeliac disease, an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, do not eat it. DON’T MISS…
Food recalls are not very common but when they do occur they must be taken seriously. This is because eating recalled items may pose a health risk to consumers.
The FSA explained: “Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold. Then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).
“Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk. When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert.”
