A food recall is issued by a supermarket, brand, or company when a product is unsafe to eat. The product is withdrawn from shelves in case it causes harm to certain individuals. Below is the full list of current food recalls from major UK supermarkets.
Tesco
Bennett Opie Ltd is recalling Opies Pickled Walnuts because they may contain mustard and sulphites which are not mentioned on the label.
As a result of a packaging error, some jars may contain pickled cornichons and onions with mustard and sulphites as ingredients that are not declared on the label.
This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard and/or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxides and/or sulphites.
This product is sold in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Asda.

The supermarkets have advised customers on what they should do if they have bought the product.
Tesco said: “If you’ve bought the affected walnuts and have an allergy to mustard and/or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxides/sulphites, please don’t eat them.
“Instead, return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.”
The supermarket giant is also recalling St. Helen’s Farm Goats Butter.
The product’s manufacturer, St. Helen’s Farm, has said the product may contain small pieces of metal.
The possible presence of metal makes this product unsafe to eat.

Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s, as well as Waitrose, is also recalling St. Helen’s Farm Goats Butter.
The supermarket said: “We are asking customers who have purchased this product to not consume it and to return it to their nearest Sainsbury’s store where they will receive a full refund.

“No other St Helen’s Farm products have been affected by this issue.”
Iceland
Bryans Salads is recalling three of their pasta salads: Chicken and Bacon Pasta Salad, Prawn Pasta Salad, and Cheese Pasta Salad.
They are being recalled because they have been labelled with a ‘use by’ date of February 7, 2022 instead of January 7, 2022.
Therefore, they may be unsafe to eat after the intended ‘use by’ date due to the risk of bacterial growth that could cause illness if consumed.
These salads are sold only at Iceland.
The supermarket is urging customers who have already bought the product to return it to their local store in return for a refund.
Marks and Spencer
Marks and Spencer is recalling its Made Without Wheat Gluten Free White Sourdough Cob because of undeclared wheat, or gluten.
This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
The best before dates affected are December 19, December 20, December 21, and December 22.
All December dates are for 2021.
Stating the food recall on its website, the FSA said: “This product contains wheat (gluten) making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten.”
Like other supermarkets, Marks and Spencer is asking customers who have already bought the project and who are allergic or intolerant to gluten to return it to their nearest store.
