Tesco urgently recalls popular sauce amid health fears – ‘do not eat’

Food recalls are issued when a product is unsafe for customers to use. For example, if an item contains an ingredient not mentioned on the label, it could cause harm to someone with allergies.

The product comes in a pack 180g in size and has a use by date of November 21, 2021.

The FSA explained: “Tesco is recalling the above product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

“The company has also issued a recall notice to its customers.

“These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”

DON’T MISS:

In its notice, Tesco said: “We have been made aware that one date code of Tesco Green Thai Style Sauce 180g may contain milk which is not declared on the packaging.

“The product could pose a safety risk to those people with an allergy or intolerance to milk.”

The supermarket giant went on to explain what customers should do if they have already bought the product.

It said: “Please do not consume this product if you have an allergy to milk, return the affected product to store where a full refund will be given.

It wrote in a statement: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it.

“Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”

Tesco is not the only supermarket to recall a food product this week.

Co-op has issued an urgent food recall for a salmon dish.

The supermarket’s own brand Salmon En Croute is being recalled because it contains undeclared prawns (crustaceans).

Due to a packaging error from the factory, some packs have been incorrectly labelled.
