The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will go to battle in the Big 12 Tournament Final tonight when the Kansas Jayhawks take on the Texas Longhorns.
The two teams split their regular season series, with Kansas grabbing the 88-80 victory in the first meeting, and then Texas getting its revenge just a few weeks ago, beating Kansas by a final score of 75-59.
So, which team will win the rubber match with the Big 12 Tournament championship on the line?
Let’s take a look at the odds and then I’ll give you my best bet.
Texas vs. Kansas odds, spread, and total
Texas vs. Kansas prediction and pick
In a game that’s expected to be close, I feel a lot more comfortable betting on the team that’s getting points instead of the team that’s laying points. For that reason, I’ll bet on the Texas Longhorns.
The Longhorns do have some slight advantages in key areas. One of those being effective field goal percentage, where they rank 67th in the country, just a smidge ahead of Kansas who comes in at 71st.
They also outrank them in defensive efficiency, coming in at 26th in college basketball, compared to Kansas at 38th.
In what could end up being the difference maker in this game, the Longhorns are much more effective at creating extra scoring chances per game. They average +4.7, which ranks 18th in they country.
Kansas, meanwhile, ranks 87th, averaging +1.9 extra scoring chances per game.
There are plenty of signs pointing to Texas winning this game, so since the Longhorns are set as underdogs, I’ll side with them over the Jayhawks.
