Amid the political turmoil in Maharashtra, former mayor and Thane district Shiv Sena chief, Naresh Mhaske resigned in support of Eknath Shinde. His resignation came on Saturday, June 25.

In a letter to party chief and CM Uddhav Thackeray, Naresh Mhaske alleged that the workers and party leaders are feeling ”suffocated” because of NCP.

In his letter, Mhaske also mentioned that he is resigning from the party post but will continue to remain a Shivsainik. “I am resigning as the Thane district president of Shiv Sena but will continue to remain a shiv sainik forever,” he stated.

Earlier, Mhaske was seen standing with Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, son of Eknath Shinde, in the afternoon when he addressed Shinde supporters in Thane.

Meanwhile, the rebel camp led by minister Eknath Shinde has floated an idea to form a group named ‘Shiv Sena Balasaheb’. According to rebel MLA Deepak Vasant Kesarkar, no one from the rebel camp is going to quit Sena and denied reports of a merger with any other party.

On the other hand, CM Uddhav Thackeray chaired a national executive meeting with Sena leaders, passed resolutions and moved the Election Commission to restrain any other political outfit or faction from using the name of Shiv Sena and its founder late Balasaheb Thackeray.
