We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again – TikTok really is the public information service we never knew we needed. From hacks to turn your silk scarf into a top or give your jeans a little extra breathing room; TikTok has brought us some pretty genius outfit-saving hacks.
With winter officially in full swing – okay, not officially, but you try going outside without a big coat right now – the latest hack to go viral and grab our attention comes courtesy of the most epic thermal tights; fleece-lined and cosier than most actual thermals.
These tights, which are finally serving up a genuinely warm and practical way to wear dresses and skirts in even the bleakest of temperatures, are described by creators as being their No.1 winter must-have.
The hack, which begins with taking a pair of £9.99 Amazon fleece-lined tights, is now being recreated by a range of creators who are testing and reviewing the hack.
The tutorials direct us to choose a colour of our choice, with most people going for black, beige or grey (although it’s worth noting that the range of shade options available isn’t particularly impressive or extensive right now). Then – and this is where the ‘hack’ element comes into play – we’re advised to pop on a pair of our regular go-to black or skin-coloured tights over the top for optimal results.
The fleece-lined tights beneath then not only provide immense warmth from the cold, but are also impossible to detect beneath your regular tights, giving the illusion of wearing nothing more than a very standard pair of tights which, let’s be honest, in their usual sheer state provide little-to-no insulation whatsoever.
For those of you who don’t want to wear trousers or a midi skirt in the winter, this is the perfect way to ensure that the weather doesn’t force you to give up on your minis.
But you don’t have to double up. While some are opting to wear these fleece tights solo – although it’s worth remembering that due to the lack of variety in colour this isn’t possible for many – others are opting for black versions to use as warmer replacements to their usual leggings.
