The 12 Apostles Hotel is blooming perfect for a flower power adventure

After a series of depressing lockdowns and desperate to get away, South Africans have been taking to the highways and byways in search of this annual phenomena.  It has to be said that, in recent years, Mother Nature hasn’t always produced the goods – but this year came through with flying flowering colours.

The Cape Floral Kingdom (region) is something that we South Africans are incredibly proud of, and justifiably so, since it is one of only six (recognised floral kingdoms) in the world.

This biodiversity hotspot comprising 13 protected areas in the Western and Eastern Cape, includes the Table Mountain National Park, the Boulders Beach penguins colony and the Cape of Good Hope at the Cape Peninsula’s tip.

Great news indeed for one of the Cape’s most popular and lauded lodgings, The 12 Apostles Hotel and Spa, as it nestles in its unique location in the Table Mountain National Park.

Flanked by the 12 Apostles mountain range and poised above the Atlantic Ocean overlooking a marine reserve, guests are treated not only to frequent whale and dolphin sightings, but also to vistas elegantly punctuated by splashes of colour as far as the eye can see.

Not wasting a single opportunity to make the most of locally sourced ingredients, the hotel’s mixologists and chefs forage on a daily basis for treasured indigenous ingredients which are used at the bars and restaurants, while walkers can head into the mountains, on one of the many trails leading directly from the hotel, to explore these beauties close up.

The newly opened Fynbos Trail — a 3km guided trail, that takes approximately 60 minutes — combines leisure (dining in one of the restaurants or bars) with adventure in this special setting.
