The ’90s heartthrob bob is summer’s coolest hot-weather hairstyle

As temperatures rise, so too does the appeal of shorter hair. So hallelujah for Chloë Grace Moretz who has satisfied that craving with her new ”90s heartthrob bob’.

There was a time when no male actor worth his salt wasn’t sporting either long choppy hair or styling it into a wet-look quiff. Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio all regularly worked these looks in their ‘90s era and Harry Styles still leans into both iterations today.

But now it’s the turn of the ladies to dust off the trend with a haircut that magically hits the sweet spot between androgynous and chic.

Chloë is certainly putting the ‘90s heartthrob bob back on the map after long-time hairstylist Gregory Russell chopped off her long hair in favour of a jaw-skimming bob that is a radical deviation from her normal style.

In an Instagram post dated 25th June, she can be seen pairing her fresh cut, where the front section is nonchalantly flipped to the side, with a flash of red lipstick and that other ’90s staple: matt foundation.

That said, the ‘90s heartthrob bob is a trend that has been slowly been gaining steam. Everyone from Hailey Bieber to Jennifer Garner, Florence Pugh and Charlize Theron have been popularising the look of late, while Scarlett Johansson has taken to borrowing both the quiff and wet-look elements for her red carpet up-dos.
