The sixth edition of the Castilla y León Padel Championship met the forecasts last Sunday in Palencia. The event, held at the Pistas de las Eras de San Marina, confirmed the dominance of the racket by Adas Salamanca and CD San Cebrián from Palencia.
The charro club prevailed in the highest regional category, precisely, against those who were expected to be its great competitors, the local players. The final did not disappoint and left a great taste in the mouths of two teams that reached the final match undefeated.
CD San Cebrián reached the final phase without a single set against, after winning 6-0 and 6-0 against CD Duero Zamora and AVIVA de Salamanca. Alejandro Matesanz and Fernando Lagunilla exhibited their skills, acquired at the Palencia paddle tennis school, one of the pioneers of this sport in the community and endorsed by the Adapted Sports Federation of Castilla y León (Fedeacyl).
Adas did the same in his team, and also endorsed two ‘roscos’ to CD Duero Valladolid and CD Duero Zamora.
In the final, it was the visitors who imposed their physique, and AAlejandro González and Fran Mangas revalidated their title as champions of Castilla y León, with a 2-6 and a final 5-7which suggested a definitive third set.

In the Second Division or level II of a competition that had the support of the Municipal Sports Board of Palencia, the Padel Federation of Castilla y León and Full Inclusion, CD San Cebrián took the title with the couple formed by Juan Antonio Guadilla and Carlos Huidobro.
The competition, in a single phase and in a league format, raised the locals who beat the two Asprona Bierzo teams. The people from Palencia overcame initial nerves and a tight 7-6 set, to complete the victory with another 6-2. In the second and calmer game, Juan and Carlos beat the second team from Berciano (6-3 and 6-2).
The sixth edition of the regional championship was completed the Second Women’s Division, in which the girls of Adas Salamanca, Yolanda Mangas and Estefanía Estébanez were imposed, by also winning the competition in league format. The charras prevailed over the girls from San Cebrián in Palencia and their second team from Salamanca. Second place went to the local girls, Aliona Benito and Nerea Gallego.
The Eras de Santa Marina event had twelve teams and almost thirty players.
