The Apprentice star Sohail Chowdhary might have been fired by Lord Alan Sugar, but fate ended up making him bump into Tim Campbell in an ‘amazing’ experience after the competition.

During last night’s episode of the BBC series, Sohail’s team lost a challenge where they were tasked with creating a lunchbox geared at six-to-eight-year-olds, as well as an app that would both encourage healthy eating and also be engaging.

The martial arts school owner faced Lord Sugar’s wagging finger in the boardroom of week 7, admitting that he ‘felt ready’ to be sent home before finding out the business magnate’s verdict.

During a recent chat with Metro.co.uk, he recalled a time when he was travelling from Southampton to London – and randomly bumped into Lord Sugar’s aide Tim on the train, where they both hopped into the exact same carriage, seconds apart.

‘I had this insane experience, because imagine – I’m on the way to London from Southampton and I’m getting onto the train, I made it with like 30 seconds to spare. Next thing you know, someone comes running on with five seconds to spare. He looks up at me, he’s like, “Sohail?” And I’m like, “Tim?”’ he recollected.

‘We’re getting the same train from Southampton to London. It was such a surreal experience. Tim is such a gentleman as well right – he pays for my first class upgrade, literally takes me to first class.’

Sohail shared how bowled over he felt by Tim’s generosity, explaining that he told the former Apprentice winner: ‘Tim, I would pay to talk to you, why are you paying for my first class upgrade? Let me pay.’

Nonetheless, Tim insisted on paying, with Sohail describing him as ‘such a gentleman’.

‘We had an amazing conversation. I can’t speak highly enough about Tim. He’s just such a gentleman it’s unreal. And the advice that he gives is just priceless,’ he added.

The journey they were both taking to London had nothing to do with The Apprentice at all, it was just that they were coincidentally taking the same journey on the same train to the English capital.

‘It was so surreal,’ Sohail acknowledged, remembering how Tim was wearing a cap ‘because he probably gets noticed everywhere’.

‘And he comes rushing on with five seconds [to spare], the exact same door of the whole train. It was just odd. So so odd but an amazing thing,’ he said.

Following his elimination, Sohail took to his Instagram Story to express his gratitude for the support he’s received from viewers, writing: ‘I was ready to bow out. Thank you for the support everyone!’

He later admitted that the website for his company AG Martial Arts had ‘crashed’ due to high demand.

The Apprentice returns next Thursday at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
