The ASUS ROG Ally Will Retail For RM3,299 In Malaysia

The ASUS ROG Ally is already available around the world for US$699 (~RM3240), but the brand still has yet to provide us with local pricing in an official capacity. Unofficially though, it’s been indirectly telling everyone that the handheld console will retail at RM3299 via a recent puzzle that it posted on its social media.

You can find the puzzle alluding to the ROG Ally and its pricing on the ASUS ROG Malaysia Facebook page, which again, features a puzzle based on pictures that show three different equations. The first laptop in the first mathematical puzzle is a ROG Flow Z13 ACRNM edition laptop, which currently retails for RM12,999. The other two laptops that you see in the equation are the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 and the ROG Strix Scar 16.

If your brain’s unable to do mental arithmetics, we’ll spare you the trouble and give the answer here: the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 in the equation retails for RM22,999, while the Scar 16 has an SRP of RM18,999. As these puzzles usually go, the first two equations are given to provide a base. So, with the model of laptops determines, if you take the pricing of the Zephyrus Duo 16 and subtract the final pricing of the last equation, you get the pricing of the ROG Ally, which is RM3,299.

As to why ASUS is indirectly revealing the official SRP of the ROG Ally, sources close to us say that the reason is a simple one: it is to deter any unscrupulous seller and grey market importers from selling the console at a price higher than the console’s SRP. In any case, the brand is still on track to officially announce the pricing for its handheld console on 19  June, and we are also under the impression that the announcement will also include plans to bundle it with some accessories and other free gifts.

The ASUS ROG Ally was first announced on 1 April 2023. It goes without saying that many of us didn’t take it seriously, given the significance of the day it was revealed, but the brand assured us that it was the real McCoy. The model we’re getting, in particular, is the one fitted with AMD’s new Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, which is technically a derivative from its Ryzen 7040U Series, which was also announced just this week.
