The Attico Pre-Fall 2022 Collection

Vittoria Ceretti is the face of The Attico’s look book for fall; she isn’t only a close friend of Giorgia Tordini and Gilda Ambrosio, she also embodies their idea of femininity. “Beyond the sophisticated persona we see photographed in magazines, IRL she’s part boyish charm, and part glamorous siren,” they said.

The Attico designers are savvy about their business, which has grown considerably since they started with a small collection of upscale yet languid vintage-inspired party pieces. Attico means penthouse in Italian, a word highlighting the vibe of high-places bohemia that the duo wanted to convey. But today’s fashion is very much attuned to the call of the street below, and the designers’ fine ears have been rather receptive to the message.

“It’s a different approach,” they said of their new fall collection, which they named Join Us Downstairs. “We wanted a more laid-back attitude, spontaneous and cool but still with The Attico’s character and sensuality.” With her beautiful face, Ceretti looks like an actress out of a ’60s Italian movie, and her interpretation of the brand’s multifaceted spirit is rather expressive. From the frivolous to the tomboyish, from the sassy to the romantic, she makes each look feel different and individual.

Contrasts between day and night, and between formal and informal were at play throughout the collection. The traditional masculine suit, oversized and with extra-slouchy trailing-hemmed trousers, became provocative through an abundance of cut-outs, generous round décolletages, and long thin straps that when undone reveal bare skin and bras underneath. On a similar note, an XXXL denim trucker jacket with matching cargos was tie-dyed in a sweet shade of lavender, and paired with a stretchy, sexy bodysuit. But no matter how cool the play on street-inspired propositions may be, the real show-stealers were the sequined evening numbers that Gilda and Giorgia excel at. Liquid, bias-cut, and revealing vast expanses of bare skin, they were dripping with sparkling crystals and feathers. Even if the party is downstairs, the Attico girl is still the sexiest, coolest chick around.
