The Babyliss Cordless straightener is reduced by £140 (!) right now – but is it worth the hype?

0

The Babyliss Cordless Straightener launched back in the summer of 2019, promising to straighten even the curliest of hair types on-the-go. Think: a high-performance hair straightener which helps you to achieve sleek and polished styles without all the fuss of restrictive, self-tangling wires.

Since then, countless new cordless hair straighteners have landed on the UK hair market – but the Babyliss 9000 cordless straightener remains one of the most popular.

If you’ve been toying with the idea of treating yourself to sleeker-than-ever hair as you travel this summer, today is your lucky day. The Babyliss Cordless Straightener – which usually retails at £200, FYI – is reduced to £60. Yes, £60. That’s a saving of £140 (!) when you shop through LookFantastic. Here’s everything you need to know before you take the plunge.

THE PRODUCT:

BaByliss Cordless Straightener

THE HYPE:

The Babyliss Cordless straightener is a pretty high-tech device. Firstly, it’s powered by a lithium-ion battery which enables it to work at full capacity for 30 minutes – a far cry from your usual bog-standard battery. Those who developed this kind of battery actually won a Nobel Prize for their innovation. It’s designed with effortless magnetic charging, reaching full power potential in three hours, and the ceramic floating plates glide effortlessly through every hair types. Even those with the tightest coils have reported smoothers, glossier hair without excessive pulling. It comes with a heat-proof cover, and the patented micro heating matrix tech ensures a consistent temperature throughout the styling process to prevent unnecessary heat damage.

As for cordless styling in general? There are a bunch of reasons why we would welcome it with open arms. Maybe you have fine hair, and any change in weather results in instant and unwanted frizz. Or perhaps you’re a bit of a globetrotter and you are fed up of finding the right plug adapter, or worse, arriving at your destination to find that your heat styler doesn’t work in that country. Yep, there’s no denying that having a cordless hair styler is a total dream.

THE REVIEWER:

Lottie Winter, Beauty Editor.

BEAUTY BIO:

My hair is not curly and not straight, meaning its default mode is wavey with a few ad hoc ringlets. It’s also fine, meaning that frizz is likely at all times. On the days I need to look presentable, I straighten my hair or use a wand to add beachy waves – both of which tend to last approximately three hours, so it would be great to be able to touch up on the go.

THE REVIEW:

I’m skeptical about on-the-go electricals, namely because I think they’re going to be heavy and need charging every 30 seconds. Plus, I already have more chargers, wires and what-nots that I have plug sockets. So for a new device to make the cut, it would have to be major.

On first inspection, I’m pleasantly surprised. The Babyliss Cordless straightener is relatively lightweight, sleek and compact. Plus, it comes with a heat-proof cover and a safety feature that means it can’t accidentally turn on in your hand bag (which was my main concern).
