After over two years of strict testing requirements, The Government of The Bahamas is removing another COVID requirement for international visitors. As of Sunday, June 19, travelers will no longer need to apply for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa in order to enter the country. ‘The discontinuation of the Travel Health Visa is yet another signal to the international community that we are open for business,” said the Honourable I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation.
At check-in, proof of vaccination is needed and only unvaccinated travelers ages 2 and older will be required to obtain a negative COVID-19 test — either a negative RT-PCR test or a Rapid Antigen test — taken no more than three days (72 hours) prior to travel and present the negative test results at check-in before travel to The Bahamas.
This comes on the heels of the easing of United States testing requirements for international travelers. As a popular weekend getaway for East Coasters – not only for flyers but for boaters – this will prove to make last minute getaways to the 16-island paradise easier to navigate.
