On the hunt for the best hotels in New York to bookmark for your next trip? This lot are worthy of a spot on your Instagram.
As of Monday 8 November 2021, fully vaccinated British travellers are able to fly into America once more. Yep: it has been a long, hard slog for those of us desperate to play like Carrie and visit New York – but alongside those from China and Brazil (among a few other countries), Brits are finally able to holiday in the States again. As long as we’ve had two of any COVID-19 vaccines approved for emergency use by the World Health Organisation, of course.
NYC makes the ultimate city break destination. It’s the city that never sleeps, after all, and whether you’ve been 17 times or you’re yet to tick it off your bucket list, there’s not a chance in hell you could ever get bored of it.
From its spilling of art-world icons (think: The Met, the Guggenheim and the MoMA) to its legendary Broadway theatre scene, epic shopping opportunities (Macy’s Herald Square / Saks Fifth Avenue, you’ve got our hearts) and architectural eye candy, New York a wanderer’s delight. There’s Central Park, the Statue of Liberty and a million different neighbourhoods to explore. And don’t get us started on the food. Post-lockdown is the best time to dive into the New York food scene, with hospitality hotspots taking creativity to new heights and a whopping 75 (!) Michelin-starred restaurants to enjoy. Ain’t that the dream.
Luckily, there’s an unfathomable number of epic hotels in New York; virtually every luxury hotel brand on the planet has a premises located in New York’s Midtown or Financial District. That said, there’s also an increasing number of boutique hotels and chic apartments to rent in suburbs like Williamsburg and DUMBO – or SoHo and Chelsea – which all offer an entirely different view of the city.
In short, there’s an absolute tonne of choice when it comes to hotels in New York – so if you’re planning on jetting off anytime soon, the booking process might be leaving you feeling a tad overwhelmed.
But fret not. With sheer choice in mind, we thought we’d compile an edit of the best hotels in New York that GLAMOUR editors can’t wait to return to on their next trip to the Big Apple. To give you a head start when it comes to planning your next adventure.
Particular highlights? No edit of the best New York hotels would be complete without a mention of the aforementioned The Hoxton Williamsburg. Situated in the Brooklyn region of the city, it’s as much for New Yorkers as it is for oversees visitors, boasting a dreamy rooftop bar, events space and a sizeable lobby that can be lazed in all weekend long. A bit like those at The Hoxton Southwark and Shoreditch. There are three on-site restaurants: Summerly, Backyard and the year-round favourite Klein’s, and the interiors are to die for. Think: low-hanging chandeliers, contemporary art and vintage furniture.
