We have a bunch of new shows debuting this week, but the biggest event is the first NFL Thursday Night Football game that will be available to watch only on Amazon Prime Video. We also have three new shows debuting on Netflix, a docudrama on Mike Tyson’s life on Hulu, and a new entertaining science show from Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane. We have a touching UK import drama, the final season of one of Apple TV Plus’ debut shows, and the third season of perhaps the best of the new Star Trek series. Let’s look at the best new streaming shows this week.
Best new streaming TV shows this week
NFL Thursday Night Football (Amazon Prime Video)
While many streaming services have offered NFL football games in the past that repeated the coverage from the broadcast networks or cable sources, Thursday night marks a new era for pro football in America. Amazon Prime Video paid $1 billion over the next 11 years to show nearly all the league’s Thursday Night Football games exclusively on its service. It begins tonight at 8 p.m. EST with a pre-season match between the Houston Texans and the San Francisco 49ers, followed by 15 games in the regular season starting September 15.
Prime Video members can watch the games on their smart TVs and mobile devices, along with pre and post-game shows. There will also be different streams to watch, from the main commentary from Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit, to an alternative commentary from the popular YouTube sports team Dude Perfect, and a Spanish-language commentary as well. Amazon Fire TV and iOS and Android Prime Video apps will also be able to access real-time stats, team and player info, and more with Amazon’s X-Ray feature. Finally, Prime Video members will have the option to record all the games in case they can’t watch every game live.
Amazon Prime Video
Amazon Prime Video offers access to thousands of movies and TV shows to stream. That includes great original shows and movies like The Boys and The Tomorrow War. You can also sign up for other premium services within Amazon Prime Video.
Selling The OC Season One (Netflix)
Selling Sunset has become one of Netflix’s biggest reality shows, and now the sexy real estate series is getting a direct spin-off. The Oppenheim Group, the real estate seller who has reached fame and success selling expensive homes in Los Angeles County, California, is now expanding with an office in neighboring Orange County. Expect lots of great-looking homes, along with lots of behind-the-scenes drama as a new group of real estate agents try to land those clients and sell those homes.
Netflix
Netflix is still the leading premium streaming service, with over 200 million worldwide subscribers. It offers thousands of movies and TV shows to binge watch, including its always growing list of original films and series, including Stranger Things, The Witcher, Bridgerton, and many more.
Mo Season One (Netflix)
Comedian Mo Amer stars in this new Netflix series. He co-created the show and plays Mo Najjar, the head of a Palestine refugee family who is trying to live in Houston. While he and his family may be undocumented, Mo is striving to attain US citizenship while also trying to hustle (almost) any way he can to support his family.
Partner Track Season One (Netflix)
This new Netflix show, based on the semi-biographical novel The Partner Track by Helen Wan, has shades of Ally McBeal and Boston Legal. Arden Cho plays the main character of Ingrid Yun, a young lawyer who is trying to move up the “partner track” at a high-end New York City law firm. She and her friends also have to navigate some rough personal and romantic issues as well.
Mike Season One (Hulu)
Mike Tyson has been one of the most controversial figures in modern sports, and this new limited series on Hulu claims to give a fuller picture of the life of the heavyweight boxing champion. Tyson himself has disavowed the eight-episode series because Hulu did not pay him for the rights to his story. That means you should watch this unauthorized biography with at least a small grain of salt.
Hulu
Hulu offers not only thousands of movies and TV shows to stream, it also has original shows and films like The Handmaid’s Tale. You can upgrade to Hulu Plus Live TV to get live channels, including your local stations.
The End Is Nye Season One (Peacock)
Science popularizer Bill Nye is back with an entertaining new series that’s streaming on Peacock. Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane is one of the show’s executive producers. Each episode of the series will show a very possible scenario of how the world could end and what we could possibly do to prevent it from happening. Sounds like fun to us.
Peacock
NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service offers a lot of great movies and TV shows to stream on demand, along with live news and sports. Best of all, you can watch lots of its content for free, or watch all of it with a paid subscription starting at just $4.99 a month.
Everything I Know About Love Season One (Peacock)
Peacock also debuts this UK import drama this week on its service. It’s based on the semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by Dolly Alderton, who adapted the novel herself for the series. It centers on a group of young women who learn about love and life as they grow up through the years.
Star Trek Lower Decks Season Three (Paramount Plus)
The crew of the USS Cerritos is back for a third season of comedy in this excellent sci-fi animated series on Paramount Plus set in the Star Trek post-Next Generation timeline. At the end of season two, the captain of the Cerritos was arrested by the Federation for a crime she didn’t commit. Can the Lower Deckers and the rest of the crew clear their captain’s name and save the day?
Paramount Plus
Paramount Plus includes thousands of movies and TV shows from CBS, Showtime, and Paramount Pictures. It also includes new and original movies like The Good Fight, Infinite, and more.
See Season Three (Apple TV Plus)
One of the debut shows from the launch of Apple TV Plus nearly three years ago is finally ending with this third season. Jason Momoa returns as Baba Voss, who at the end of season two left his tribe in this post-apocalypse Earth where nearly every human is blind. However, he’s called back to defend his tribe against a rival group that has created a type of sighted weaponry that could spell the final doom for humanity.
Apple TV Plus
Apple TV Plus has quickly become a major player in the streaming game since its launch in 2019. Its slate of original programming includes shows like Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, Foundation, and For All Mankind as well as movies like The Banker, Greyhound, and Palmer.

If you missed last week’s column, here’s a look at our previous week’s picks for the best TV shows to stream.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Season One (Disney Plus)
If you are getting tired of watching movies and TV shows set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you might still want to catch this series on Disney Plus. One reason is that this is the first full-blown sitcom in the MCU, so expect things to get very silly and very meta. Another is the performance of Tatiana Maslany in the title role, as both She-Hulk and her human alter-ego Jennifer Walters.
When Walters gets in an auto accident with her cousin Bruce Banner (a.k.a. The Incredible Hulk), his gamma-irradiated blood mixes with hers and makes her able to turn into a 6-feet, 7-inch green-skinned powerhouse. However, Walters doesn’t want to be a superhero; she just wants to continue being a lawyer. That might not be possible as her law firm in Los Angeles wants her to take the lead on their new super-powered people division. And yes, she does break the fourth wall from time to time, talking directly to the view.
Disney Plus bundle
Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon Season One (HBO/HBO Max)
While the final season of Game of Thrones caused many that loved the hit dark and adult fantasy series to become disillusioned, the prequel show has turned into a huge hit for its first episode on HBO and HBO Max. Set several hundred years before the main series, House of the Dragon will focus on House Targaryen, the ruling class of the continent of Westeros. The series, which was co-created by the man behind the entire Game of Thrones franchise, George R.R. Martin, will show how House Targaryen’s family members slowly entered into civil war. Expect lots of backstabbing and some big dragon action.
HBO Max
HBO Max is your home for Warner Bros-made movies and TV shows like The Lord of the Rings, the DC Comics superheroes, and more. It’s also the home for new and original movies and shows available nowhere else.
Echoes Season One (Netflix)
Michelle Monaghan plays dual roles in this new Netflix thriller series. She plays both Leni and Gina, identical sisters who have been swapping lives with each other since they were young. Yes, that means they have switched up and posed as their other sister at times with their respected husbands and family members. This dark secret quickly becomes even darker when one of the twins suddenly goes missing, and the remaining sister tries to find her. She soon discovers that there are even more secrets that she didn’t even know about.
The Undeclared War Season One (Peacock)
The threat of a cyber attack by hostile foreign nations is a very real crisis right now. What if it escalated so much that it could topple a government? That’s the fictional threat the UK has to deal with in this Peacock import series. In the year 2024, cyber terrorists are trying to disrupt the upcoming UK national elections. It’s up to a team of computer counter-terrorists to stop this intrusion before it causes the country to collapse. The cast includes two major UK actors: Simon Pegg and Mark Rylance.
Bad Sisters Season One (Apple TV Plus)
Apple TV Plus brings us another UK-based series to watch. Sharon Horgan created and co-stars as one of the Garvey sisters. The show begins with the funeral of a brother-in-law of one of the sisters. The insurance company is investigating his mysterious death, which leads to complications. All of the Garvey sisters have excellent reasons why one, more, or even all of them might have killed him.
Sprung Season One (Amazon Freevee)
Greg Garcia, the man behind a number of popular TV comedies like My Name Is Earl and Raising Hope, is back with a new sitcom, this time for the free Amazon Freevee service. It even features two Raising Hope cast members, Garret Dillahunt and
Martha Plimpton. Dillahunt plays Jack, a non-violent criminal who, after 26 years, is freed from prison along with two other inmates because the Covid-19 pandemic is causing mass infections in overcrowded jails. This trio moves in with one of the inmate’s mother, played by Plimpton. Everyone returns to a life of crime, except this time they decide to rob from whom they consider to be bad people,Stay connected with us on social media platform for instant update click here to join our Twitter, & Facebook
