THE best pubs and bars on the North Coast 500 have been revealed.
Every year scores of visitors flock to Scotland’s most popular tourist route.
And they stop off along the way for a bite to eat and a drink as they take in the stunning views of the Scottish Highlands.
As they travel the 516-mile round trip from Inverness Castle and back, they need to take a break somewhere.
But with over 500 miles worth of boozers to choose from – tourists have a lot of choice of where to go.
But a list compiled by The National has revealed the top rated pubs on Google for NC500 punters to go to.
Johnny Foxes
As you set off, make sure to stop by Johnny Foxes on Bank Street in Inverness.
The popular bar and restaurant sits in the heart of the city and boasts great food, a selection of drinks and put on live entertainment every night.
The Cottage Bar & Restaurant
As you reach Dingwall, you can stop by The Cottage Bar and Restaurant on Hood Street.
The owners of this dog-friendly spot say anyone can enjoy a home-made meal and get to know the locals while getting a taste of life in the quaint village of Maryburgh.
The Inver Inn
Located in the village of Inver, just six miles outside of Tain, The Inver Inn is a perfect place to stop and see the sights.
You can enjoy stunning views of Inver Bay and the Dornoch Firth as you tuck in to first class food and enjoy their great whisky, gin and ale selection.
Coach House Bar & Restaurant
This family-run Dornoch restaurant is the perfect place to stop for a cozy meal.
The Coach House overlooks Dornoch Square, has a bar on the ground floor and restaurant on the first, where you can enjoy a fine selection of Scottish meats.
The Old Smiddy Inn
The traditional boozer is 3.8 miles down the road from Wick, and offers a classic Scottish pub experience.
The old fashioned inn is a cosy stopover on the NC500, with a coal fire and home cooked grub.
Previous visitors have even shared that local bagpipers sometimes play at the quaint spot.
The Clachan
Live music and a good beer selection are just two of the things visitors to The Clachan can expect if they stop off in Dornie.
The bar and restaurant also boasts stunning views of Eilean Donan Castle and Loch Alsh.
The Struy Inn
Another idyllic drinking spot near a castle is traditional 19th century Struy Inn.
Visitors can easily stop over at beauty spots such as Erchless Castle or Glen Strathfarrar.
The cosy restaurant only has five tables available each evening, so be quick to book a spot.
Alongside drinks, the inn serves quality British and Scottish cuisine.
The Malt Room
Finally, for road trippers who appreciate their whisky, The Malt Room is a good bar to stop by while in Inverness.
The boozer is the first dedicated whisky bar in the Highland city and offers everything from malts to cocktails.
Groups who really want to immerse themselves in the whisky experience can book a private tasting room, where an expert team is able to guide guests through their extensive drink collection.
