Is there anything more quintessentially British than a portion of fish and chips in a pretty seaside town?
However, while every seaside town has its fair share of chippies, there’s one coastal spot where the chips are said to be the best in the UK.
According to research from the team at travel booking website, Omio, a little Scottish village has the UK’s best fish and chips.
When it comes to an order, data from Just Eat found that cod was the most popular takeaway fish beating haddock into second place.
Perhaps more surprisingly only just over half of Brits ordered fish at all ,with many preferring sausage or burger and chips.
Plockton, a Scottish village, beat out popular seaside destinations, such as Cornwall, to win the crown for best fish and chips.
Tourists could enjoy their fish and chip supper looking out over the village’s harbour or after a busy day of paddleboarding.
St Ives, one of Cornwall’s leading holiday destinations, took second place while another Scottish destination Lochinver came in third place.
Portmerion is home to Wales’ best fish and chips while Crosby in Merseyside rounded off the top five.
However, in the UK a seagull’s never far away when a tourist is enjoying a fish and chip meal.
According to research, seagulls are most likely to steal chips at Brighton Beach which suggests they haven’t heard about Plockton taking this year’s fish and chip crown.
